Circle of Friends for the Dying actively promotes events that give people the opportunity to explore their feelings about death—such as our monthly Circle of Friends Death Cafés—and to learn about the various issues pertaining to dying, like preparing your end-of-life directives or taking advantage of hospice when the time comes. We also sponsor events to celebrate life, such as “Circlestock,” a raucous concert and dance party, and “Day of the Dead,” a spooky-fun costume party and silent auction held at BSP in Kingston.

Peace of Mind for Life: An Advance Directives Workshop
September 30 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pmFree
People’s Place is teaming up with CFD to present Peace of Mind for Life, an in-person workshop on making well-informed healthcare choices and filling out Advance Directives. The workshop will take place on Thursday, September 30 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Having a Health Care Proxy and completing a Living Will are vital steps to ensure that healthcare providers and loved ones know the care you choose to receive or not receive in a medical crisis if you’re unable to speak for yourself. Having your preferences honored and respected gives peace of mind to everyone involved.
Led by social worker Barbara Sarah and Carolyn Van Ness, Nurse Practitioner and Certified Advance Care Planning Facilitator, this free workshop is designed to answer confusing questions and assist participants in completing their Advance Directives. Participants will receive a complimentary New York State Advance Directive form, which Sarah and Van Ness will guide you through filling out and getting all your questions answered.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will move beyond any anxiety they might have to recognizing this process as a gift which provides peace of mind for themselves and their loved ones! Mask up and join us at People’s Place!
