Circle of Friends for the Dying actively promotes events that give people the opportunity to explore their feelings about death—such as our monthly Circle of Friends Death Cafés—and to learn about the various issues pertaining to dying, like preparing your end-of-life directives or taking advantage of hospice when the time comes. We also sponsor events to celebrate life, such as “Circlestock”, a concert and dance party. Our inaugural event was held last year at Colony in Woodstock and pictured here.

Virtual Death Cafe, Thursday Nov 5

November 5, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Come be with us on Zoom for a virtual CFD Death Cafe on Thursday, November 5th from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Plan to settle in with your tea or coffee and plate of dessert in front of your computer for our seventh regional Death Cafe via Zoom. Looking forward to seeing you!

How to join:

Register in advance of the meeting by clicking here!

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Death Cafe returns to the Hudson Valley for the 66th time for our seventh virtual gathering via the interweb!  We are expanding our circles despite the necessity to maintain a distance from each other. By providing an online safe space for dialoguing and sharing, Death Cafe keeps the conversation going. Join our community, and let’s hang out and talk about dying and death!

Please note: Prompt attendance is required to be admitted into the meeting. The Zoom meeting will open at 6:50 p.m. so that everyone can check in early and be ready to spend some valuable time together. A brief introduction and guidelines review will get us all started at 7 p.m. Then small groups of four to six people will break out into separate rooms for private discussions.

At Death Cafés, the aim is to increase awareness of death in order to help people make the most of their finite lives. Death Cafés are open to, and respectful of, people of all communities and belief systems. A Death Café is a group-directed conversation of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.

See you soon!
